Portraits of twelve ladies between the ages of 70 and 93 years.
At the beginning of the Pandemic Covid 19, many older people lost their lives in Belgium. We did not know them, they had no names. Who were they?
“They were all very old”, people said, as if they didn’t matter. In the Netherlands a well-known female columnist referred to this generation as “dry wood”.
These portraits are of my friends and neighbours. They all had a profession. They are strong, independent women, still living an active and creative life, caring and sharing their wisdom and life experiences with others. They do matter!
